The Rape

By Daniel Hudon

She has nipples for eyes

a belly button for a nose

and a V-shaped mouth

full of pubic hair.

Her hair is red and wild

and her elongated neck

somehow makes her

muteness all the more

apparent.

Daniel Hudon, originally from Canada, teaches natural science at Boston University. He has had recent poetry appear in The Wilderness House Literary Review, Clarion and The Antigonish Review. A new chapbook of his prose and poetry, Evidence for Rainfall, was just published by Pen and Anvil Press and a nonfiction book, The Bluffer’s Guide to the Cosmos, was published in 2009 by Oval Books (UK).
