Drunken Eskimo Game

By Timothy Baker

Cards stuck with spit to our foreheads
loose ink making Ash Wednesday
of our Bacchan plans,

and a famous name on each one;
You with Hitchcock and me
with Larry Flint.

It’s twenty questions and Blind Man’s
Bluff and we still won’t
share a bed for another week.

We play a game we saw
in a movie once because
competing gets us opened up,

light red hair looks pink
in the night, and the drink and your legs
your Levi’s are worth more here.

Timothy Baker lives in New York City, where a sense of the purest optimism leads him to spend his days submitting poems, essays, and stories to magazines. He attended Hunter College.
