Remember when I turned the cross upside down
on Easter Sunday right before brunch, half-drunk
from the night before? I hung up on god just
because I wanted him to hear the dial tone
of emptiness, to feel the invisible line
that hooks our lips like floating fish
belly-up in the tank.
