The headlines, lately, have been difficult to bear. The pandemic continues, wars are being waged abroad, senseless violence continues to escalate closer to home. Art, through it all, remains a constant. We often turn to art for respite, for an escape from life’s challenges and sorrows; we also turn to it to seek connection. Both needs are met in the pages of our latest issue.

The contributors to The Coachella Review’s Summer 2022 Issue share stories, poems, nonfiction, and dramatic works showcasing the varied ways art helps us bear and embrace the range of human experience. These pieces—which include ones about monsters, monuments, murder, and memories—crackle with humor, insight, suspense, and empathy. We’re excited to share these voices with you.

Congratulations and thanks to all the writers, editors, and artists that made this issue possible.
